O'Connor Hospital CT Scanner Fundraiser
May 22, 2025
A months-long fundraising campaign to purchase a new, state-of-the-art computed tomography (CT) scanner for O'Connor Hospital in Delhi has been completed. $700,000 was raised, thanks to philanthropic members of the local community. The new equipment takes multiple X-Ray images of a patient from different angles accomplishing a high-quality scan in less time.
"My husband David and I are honored to join so many of our generous neighbors in making a contribution to this worthwhile community cause, " said Joyce Barber, a Friends of Bassett board member. "O'Connor Hospital holds a very special place in my heart and the purchase of a cutting-edge CT scanner will benefit its staff and patients for years to come."
"Imaging made possible through the use of a CT scanner is used to diagnose diseases and illnesses as well as plan for many different medical or surgical procedures. CT scanner technology has advanced over time as our existing equipment has aged. This new scanner will be a welcome addition to the high-quality services provided at O'Connor Hospital, " said Susan Oakes-Ferrucci, DNP, MSN, RN, CNS, President of O'Connor Hospital and Chief Hospital Executive for Bassett Healthcare Network's Critical Access Hospitals.
O'Connor Hospital is part of Bassett Healthcare Network and serves Delhi and its surrounding communities as a Critical-Access Hospital (CAH). CAHs provide lifesaving and life-enhancing care in rural areas where residents would otherwise face significant geographic challenges accessing healthcare services. O'Connor Hospital's CT scanner is a critical tool used for a wide range of diagnostic needs.
